Dr. Cobb to Present Research at International Gamma Knife Conference

William S. Cobb, M.D., Ph.D., Subspecialty Director of Neurosurgical Oncology at The Valley Hospital and neurosurgeon at The Gamma Knife Center, will soon be presenting his research at an international conference.

Dr. Cobb’s abstract, “Analysis of 348 Metastatic Lesions Treated with Gamma Knife Stereotactic Radiosurgery in the Community-based Hospital Setting,” was accepted for e-poster presentation at the 18th Leksell Gamma Knife Society Meeting in Amsterdam, May 15 – 19. The Leksell Gamma Knife Society and its conferences allow clinicians, physicists and researchers to exchange information, clinical techniques and data on the use of the Gamma Knife. This communication and multinational collaboration helps develop best practices and improve patient outcomes.

Dr. Cobb’s research on metastatic lesions treated with the Gamma Knife is a natural progression for his interest in diseases of the brain and spine in the field of neuro-oncology. During his residency, Dr. Cobb dedicated two years to a neuro-oncological research fellowship studying the development of brain tumors. This analysis of metastatic lesions treated with the Gamma Knife helps advance understanding of treating brain cancer with stereotactic radiosurgery techniques.
